So, I am rushing in August at UT and am worried about some reputations having to do with sororities at UT. Most girls are pretty and nice, probably one of the more classier sororities. Each campus is different. They tend to have a strong sisterhood, and they can really develop strong bonds with particular frats. ,My biggest piece of advice is to go into recruitment at UT with an OPEN MINDI cannot stress this enoughplease try not to listen to other girls and thier opinions of the houses, especially if they are negative. While some have strong national cultures across all chapters, there are bound to be differences from one university or college to another. But just looking at their PC compared to KD and even AXD was a shock. A fellow DZ is our Panhellenic President now for 2020. It'd be interesting to hear people's perceptions of these sororities. Sorry, I was pretty brutal with Gamma Phi Beta. Theta: IMO best pledge class. I don't think they've ever missed quota, but every year since my niece started HS 3 years ago, I look at the PC photos and get more concerned. You can't classify ANY sorority with a "general reputation"..each chapter at each university is different. So if you're reading this article, please do more research than this fool did. Pi Phi is the beautiful, richest sorority on top at my HUGE frat/sor oriented school and kappa and Chi o are the bottom. I'd hope that by now people would be able to see how each organization is full of unique and diverse members who find shared values in their organization. Not a scene I would ever want to be involved in. Thetas are hot and WILD. And if you are a girl reading this whos interested in joining greek life, dont listen to this shit. Dont know whats happening to them, but they arent what they used to be and are going down fast. Yes, the Pi Phi National standard of being beautiful, rich, blonde, and'hot' is upheld. I mean they must race to the computer to drop anyone who is a hayseed/dork (Kappa), fat/jockish (Theta), ugly/tacky(Tri Delt) and they were 'nice enough' to give me 3 days. I also know they party--but that is not their focus (particularly after freshman year!) Kappa kappa gamma is the richest out of all of them. So much wrong about this. Nice enough girls, but just kinda there. Many cheerleaders and pom girls go Zeta. Have to agree with Lindsey right above me. Those girls were dropped much earlier in the week. ,UT rush is incredibly competitive due to the high number of legacies and in state students who already have connections with the chapters, plus the number of PNMs who only seem to want one of six chapters. I don't even think they are trying to improve because they don't think there's anything wrong. Hard to rank AEPhi. Kappa.doesnt have the rich rep, or cute, they kinda hate each other. Care about money, looks, and highschool GPA. These chapters are under the authority of one of UT Austin's seven Greek council communities, Interfraternity Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, Latino Pan-Hellenic Council, Texas Asian Pan-Hellenic Council, Multicultural Greek Council, United Greek Council and University Panhellenic Council. They are kind notorious for being, um, generous. Wrong on so many levels. They try to be the cool girls on campus. Medium low-ish, ish ish. Axo My mother and daughter are members of Pi Beta Phi. Theta has more pretty girls and definitely a lot of party girls. Every house has it's pros and cons, but I just have to say that I really agree with the (sad to say it) stereotypes mentioned in this article! Alpha Phi: A lot of girls who go A Phi as a backup to big 6. hey!! Okay so here are the real sorority rankings at UT Austin IMO Not one!!! Obviously every girl going through rush wants to get into the "best" sorority on their campus and wants to be part of the "top tier." Im proud of my sorority. (Hang w/ Theta and Kappa + Fiji and some SAE) I feel like the elephant in the room is ADPi. Sorority recruitment at UT is EXTREMELY competitive. Agreed that different universities hold sororities in different esteem!! i think everyone can agree that this is wrong. IMO they will stay around this ranking for awhile. Bottom Tier: KD, ADPi What I have learned is that we all have our pre-conceived notions about what sororities are and most of it is crap. The national organization stresses Christian ideals. Chapters are generally considered to be well-organized.

Ask past and current members, and even people who rushed but did not join for whatever reason, about their opinion of a sorority. I think it is slightly ridiculous that people make pages like this. The friendships in sororities are unlike anything else and I wouldn't trade them for anything. Every one of their pledge classes is worse than the last. My roommate, whose dad owns half the state, went Pi Phi. Girls usually aren't big on greek life. Pi Phi has a mix of the two. One consistent observation is that KDs are obsessed with popularity. Nationally, every sorority has a philanthropy, so every single sorority does charity work. Theta smart and cute. Anyone who goes here knows original post isnt accurate. Some sororities have a bigger reputation for drinking and partying than others. You have nothing to loose, and you'll never know if you could absolutely love it until you try it!! Not good from everything i'm reading and I don't know how accurate it is. If you want to participate in recruitment again, you can during the next primary recruitment period. Many large sororities have a national culture that is enforced throughout chapters, but since college campuses vary widely, it's important to visit a chapter during recruitment to gauge whether it's right for you. I agree that you have to look at each campus to determine the "worth" of a sorority. Sure, being a freshman gives you a better chance because you will be a 4-year member, but at the same time, sometimes the older girls that join halfway through college end up being stronger members for the short time they are there, and it also sets you apart from all the freshmen who are rushing because you are different! Lot of truth inthe reputations, except there are a lot of really genuine, nice, friendly Pi Phis who are my friends. A "top" tier sorority can basically pick just who they want among pledges, while a "low" tier sorority takes the leftovers.
