Many undergraduates are affiliated with fraternities and sororities, which often provide a sense of community and connection to other students that make their university experience positive and memorable. Beware, some of my info may be out of date. ut austin sorority reputations. That Certain Look. (Hang w/ Chi O and Zeta + KA, Sig Ep, Kappa Sig, Delt, Sigma Chi) Zetas PC18 is not even in the same league as Chi-O and DDD. Pi Phi is a good chapter. . Y'all gave so many girls to them this year who would have loved to be DDD but you dropped them! Each sorority's traits vary by campus. I have never seen them as top tier at any school I have observed. Kappa I'm a Zeta Tau Alpha and I don't wear heavy make up nor do I have a "princess complex." axid will always be bottom, nuf said. The description of my Fraternal organization does not fit my experience in the least. I know the same can be said for users on here but I feel like CC isn't as saturated with Greeks.

So, I am rushing in August at UT and am worried about some reputations having to do with sororities at UT. Most girls are pretty and nice, probably one of the more classier sororities. Each campus is different. They tend to have a strong sisterhood, and they can really develop strong bonds with particular frats. Behavior Concerns and COVID-19 Advice Line (BCCAL), Report Sexual Harrassment or Sexual Misconduct. Now their National name is Kappa Kappa Gramma. Kappa did very well. All Sorority and Fraternity Organizations at UT Austin Tri Delt should take notes. I just gotta say, for the people criticizing livelonger, don't. Kappa Alpha Theta. You have got to be kidding. The rest of us made great friends with other girls in our dorms or in our major. Just be aware that some of the posters on there are a little cranky and need to get a life

My biggest piece of advice is to go into recruitment at UT with an OPEN MINDI cannot stress this enoughplease try not to listen to other girls and thier opinions of the houses, especially if they are negative. While some have strong national cultures across all chapters, there are bound to be differences from one university or college to another. But just looking at their PC compared to KD and even AXD was a shock. A fellow DZ is our Panhellenic President now for 2020. It'd be interesting to hear people's perceptions of these sororities. Sorry, I was pretty brutal with Gamma Phi Beta. Theta: IMO best pledge class. I don't think they've ever missed quota, but every year since my niece started HS 3 years ago, I look at the PC photos and get more concerned. Delta Gamma: Ten years ago they were a lot stronger of a house than they are now. Simone Haruko Smith from San Francisco on June 27, 2011: What a cool overview, livelonger! The best way to find out for sure is to participate in recruitment events. Chi-O and Tri Delt are mid. Being in a sorority is something I can't explain in words. Its interesting because they seem to have almost no current rep at all. Im a DZ and we just received the 2019 Chapter of the Year award from the University of Tennessee Panhellenic Council. You can't classify ANY sorority with a "general reputation"..each chapter at each university is different. So if you're reading this article, please do more research than this fool did. Pi Phi is the beautiful, richest sorority on top at my HUGE frat/sor oriented school and kappa and Chi o are the bottom. I'd hope that by now people would be able to see how each organization is full of unique and diverse members who find shared values in their organization. Not a scene I would ever want to be involved in. Thetas are hot and WILD. And if you are a girl reading this whos interested in joining greek life, dont listen to this shit. Dont know whats happening to them, but they arent what they used to be and are going down fast. Yes, the Pi Phi National standard of being beautiful, rich, blonde, and'hot' is upheld. I mean they must race to the computer to drop anyone who is a hayseed/dork (Kappa), fat/jockish (Theta), ugly/tacky(Tri Delt) and they were 'nice enough' to give me 3 days. I also know they party--but that is not their focus (particularly after freshman year!) Kappa kappa gamma is the richest out of all of them. So much wrong about this. Nice enough girls, but just kinda there. Many cheerleaders and pom girls go Zeta. Have to agree with Lindsey right above me. Those girls were dropped much earlier in the week. Jason Menayan (author) from San Francisco on July 05, 2016: The title says it all: these are stereotypes. They are known as the exclusive ones. They know how to party, and they'll dress in the sluttiest attire ever when doing so. Read on to learn about major sorority stereotypes and reputations for 10 of the largest organizations. Dumb. Unlike some other top-tier sororities, Kappa Delta members do not have a reputation for being all clones or princesses, but they tend to be popular and social. Greek life is a fantastic experience where so many memories and bonds are made and stereotypes should not be considered during recruitment. This is not just for UT but for many other schools.

UT rush is incredibly competitive due to the high number of legacies and in state students who already have connections with the chapters, plus the number of PNMs who only seem to want one of six chapters. I don't even think they are trying to improve because they don't think there's anything wrong. Hard to rank AEPhi. Kappa.doesnt have the rich rep, or cute, they kinda hate each other. Care about money, looks, and highschool GPA. These chapters are under the authority of one of UT Austin's seven Greek council communities, Interfraternity Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, Latino Pan-Hellenic Council, Texas Asian Pan-Hellenic Council, Multicultural Greek Council, United Greek Council and University Panhellenic Council. They are kind notorious for being, um, generous. Wrong on so many levels. They try to be the cool girls on campus. Medium low-ish, ish ish. Axo My mother and daughter are members of Pi Beta Phi. Theta has more pretty girls and definitely a lot of party girls. Every house has it's pros and cons, but I just have to say that I really agree with the (sad to say it) stereotypes mentioned in this article! Alpha Phi: A lot of girls who go A Phi as a backup to big 6. hey!! Okay so here are the real sorority rankings at UT Austin IMO Not one!!! Obviously every girl going through rush wants to get into the "best" sorority on their campus and wants to be part of the "top tier." Im proud of my sorority. (Hang w/ Theta and Kappa + Fiji and some SAE) I feel like the elephant in the room is ADPi. Sorority recruitment at UT is EXTREMELY competitive. Based on what they have told me, I agree with most of what has already been said. :) Theta love. Kappa is rich and cute. The University of Texas at Austin is home to more than 65 national fraternity and sorority chapters. Our sorority and fraternity community is home to around 60 social sororities and fraternities, each one a member of one of six governing councils, or the Affiliate Leadership Circle. Among the negative sentiments about Chi Omega members is that they can be a bit isolated (maybe even exclusionary) and limit themselves to their own philanthropic and social activities over cooperation with other Greek-letter organizations. Furthermore, if you're going to generalize like this, then include all panhellenic sororities, not just the largest national groups. I was blessed for 2 years to travel around the country and spend time with sorority girls in 30 states and numerous chapters. I'm a 00s alum from a house that used to sit very comfortably just beneath the Big 6. Agreed that different universities hold sororities in different esteem!! i think everyone can agree that this is wrong. IMO they will stay around this ranking for awhile. Bottom Tier: KD, ADPi What I have learned is that we all have our pre-conceived notions about what sororities are and most of it is crap. The national organization stresses Christian ideals. Chapters are generally considered to be well-organized.

I understand that as soon as a thread like this is started, people are re-directed to Greek Rank, but Greek Rank is horrible and biased!

If you want to learn more about each house before recruitment, visit their individual websites. Ask past and current members, and even people who rushed but did not join for whatever reason, about their opinion of a sorority. I think it is slightly ridiculous that people make pages like this. Yes Zeta did well. Nogle vil betragte Kappa som det bedste hus p UT. No matter what sorority it is you'll find beautiful women inside and out that want to achieve great things. The friendships in sororities are unlike anything else and I wouldn't trade them for anything. Every one of their pledge classes is worse than the last. (Hang w/ some Tri delt, Alpha phi + Delt, some Sigma Chi, some Sig Ep) Agreed on everything except AXO. I've heard a lot about PKT, Pi Phi ,Kappa, Theta, because they all go after rich girls. My roommate, whose dad owns half the state, went Pi Phi. Girls usually aren't big on greek life. Pi Phi has a mix of the two. One consistent observation is that KDs are obsessed with popularity. Nationally, every sorority has a philanthropy, so every single sorority does charity work. Theta smart and cute. Anyone who goes here knows original post isnt accurate. This is why sorority stereotypes exist. PNMsDont take advice from a dude whos never even been in a chapter. This post knows! I'd say Chi O is more top tier and Pi Phi is universal top tier. Some are more popular in the northeast and others in the southern states; some sororities focus more on philanthropy or academics and others on social activities. This is actually pretty accurate and is just making the people who think the sororities cant change ever mad, but every other school has relative rankings that shift over time its normal. Kappa: Like Pi Phi and Theta, usually wealthy girls. Pi Phi is cheer or dance types. I know the same can be said for users on here but I feel like CC isn't as saturated with Greeks.

So, I am rushing in August at UT and am worried about some reputations having to do with sororities at UT. I don't get why the Thetas aren't on this list. Neither one is the "sorority type". Theta: Similar to Pi Phi as girls usually have been told they will be a theta before rush week begins. GIve your ego a rest and actually _try_ to go for the top girls and you might be surprised and end up winning them over. :(. Well see where the year takes them, though. Recruitment may officially start in August, but the active members of the sororities have been behind the scenes recruiting since the winter and some incoming freshmen have been recruitment targets for years. Usually pretty and party a lot but like AXO don't get big 6 because they are missing something(could be looks, outgoing personality, etc.) It's just a great place to meet friends that you will have for the rest of your life. Alpha Phi is considered by many to be an upper mid-tier sorority. Seriouslyagainclueless. In fact, you shouldnt even be tiering sororities, because that shouldnt matter. PAN LOVE PEOPLE!! They are probably number three IMO. Kappa Kappa Gamma (Kappas) are known for being rich girls. how deep is god's love for us verse. Fortunately, you correctly pointed out these are generalization because from campus to campus there are important differences and from region to region. At my school, Chi O and KD are considered the "best" sororities and what you said about the Chi O's is illustrated exactly at my school. Dont know much about them but from what I hear theyve been on the rise for the past few years. DG and Chi O are top of the middle tier with Phi Mu, and Kappa at the bottom. Hard to tell if it is Theta, Zeta or AZD self promoting. The national organization stresses "Christian ideals." Chapters are generally considered to be well-organized. Many consider them obsessed with their looks and say they have a reputation for body image issues. Jason Menayan (author) from San Francisco on April 18, 2016: This article is extremely offensive. That will only spell disaster for yourself.

OPPlease, Please,Please stay off of Greek Rankmost of the people that post on that site arent even greek and have no idea what they are taking aboutI really really wish that site didnt exist! I think you are right on about all of them to a large degree. Chi-O: A lot of girls seemed to prefer Chi-O to Pi Phi and Kappa. They tend to be the prettier and wealthier girls. Pi Beta Phi girls (Pi Phis) are considered by most to be top-tier but also have a reputation as fake and superficial. Every house has an objective and will recruit accordingly. KD: Mostly the same as DG, although less party girls. Fraternity members consider DZ girls a lot of fun. :) Dont believe everything you read people. Alpha Phi: Ten years ago A Phi was on the same level as ADPi and KD. AOIIs can have the reputation of being "srat" girls - sorority girls who hangout with a particular fraternity on campus. Sure, there are a few nerdier girls in DG and KD and ADPi has some quiet girls but those are all great chapters as is AXD. They and their friends are NOTHING like the disbarging comments. Colleges and Universities A-Z TCU. Perhaps your guide will give others a better initial overview so THEY, unlike me, will still consider pledging some of these sororities :D. Jason Menayan (author) from San Francisco on June 23, 2011: Yes, they are popular on certain college campuses, not as popular or even nonexistent on others. If you pledge a sorority and then aren't sure it's right for you, make your decision before the initiation process. Theyre actually much more attractive than KD and ADPi. DG has been steadily dropping. Before you type:Remember, do not post names, initials, or any derogatory content. Sadly, that is fairly indicative of this chapter. AZD may be pretty but is not classy. AXiD: Seven years ago they were the worst sorority. It looks like my daughter is going to be joining Alpha Phi and i've been so disappointed solely because of their reputation, but she loves all the girls that she's met so far and it seems to be a good fit for her, but the reputation.. ugh. I hope that whoever wrote this or may read this can see beyond stereotypes. Hot girls but probably no Kappas or Pi Phis wish they were Thetas. Alpha Chi Omega: Used to be almost in the top six. Some women are born knowing gold from gold-fill. The sorority touts its diversity, but some say the standards are so loose that theres very little tying all Chi-Os together in terms of personality, looks, campus activity, or academic performance. You would already know what the chapters are like. Most of the girls who were debutantes with me were Pi Phis. Still a top tier house thats almost impossible to get into. Although Zeta Tau Alphas are often committed to philanthropy and successful fundraisers, they have a reputation for only accepting white girls. Connections not necessary but people usually have them. Rest pretty accurate. Overall Theta competes with Pi Phi and Kappa (less with Kappa in the past couple of years with their suspension for hazing and having to snap bid like twenty five girls a few years back). I go to UF, and the sorority girls are ridiculous. This reputation is by no means uniform, which may be due to the diversity of girls who pledge KD. I dont know much about the rest. Sweeping generalizations all around. If they didn't like you,you knew it. I'm rushing KD in the fall. Until you travel to every college and every chapter you really have no right to pass judgement on any woman in any chapter. The reputation of Zetas ranges depending on who you talk to, but party girls is a fairly common descriptor; the less charitable have compared Zetas to the cast of the Jersey Shore. Some sororities have a bigger reputation for drinking and partying than others. You have nothing to loose, and you'll never know if you could absolutely love it until you try it!! I find that Pi Beta Phi, Kappa Alpha Theta, and Kappa Kappa Gamma, all are considered "top tier' nationally. A general image is dangerously close to a stereotype. ADPi: Dont know much about them either besides for their philanthropy they make pancakes.I don't predict them changing anytime soon. They may not talk to you, because they are not suppose to, but they are watching YOUR behavior.

If you are coming to UT really raw, meaning no greek connections what so ever, you have a very large uphill battle. Seriously. Not good from everything i'm reading and I don't know how accurate it is. If you want to participate in recruitment again, you can during the next primary recruitment period. I attend one of the top universities in the country, and arguably the most competitive sorority school in the country. Many large sororities have a national culture that is enforced throughout chapters, but since college campuses vary widely, it's important to visit a chapter during recruitment to gauge whether it's right for you. Very beautiful girls and their house is the best IMO. The reputation of each sorority is DIFFERENT at every sorority you go to. Chi O: About 50/50 party girls and non-party girls. This may be because the sorority has recently fought its way to the top tier and has a reputation to maintain. And dont let some guy on the internet define what youre chapter is. To stereotype any organization and the members a part of these organizations is belittling of what these organization were founded on. Many have noted that while Chi Os are sweet and classy, they are not necessarily known as the most physically attractive women (but not the ugliest, either; many have said they are plain Janes). Sorry. This is literally obnoxious. :). My friend got asked how much her dress cost when she was pledging. I've met s lot of heavy, mean, unattractive kappas and KDs. Some are kind of crazy. Also they have the majority of UT cheerleaders. These are where youll learn the mission and values of each sorority, and youll pick up whether what a sorority says is in line with what is really going on. I agree that you have to look at each campus to determine the "worth" of a sorority. Sure, being a freshman gives you a better chance because you will be a 4-year member, but at the same time, sometimes the older girls that join halfway through college end up being stronger members for the short time they are there, and it also sets you apart from all the freshmen who are rushing because you are different! Lot of truth inthe reputations, except there are a lot of really genuine, nice, friendly Pi Phis who are my friends. Like my mom always said, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all. With national chapters having hundreds of thousands of members you can't possibly categorize all of them into a few nasty words. From the little I do know some sororities do charities and that is good in my book. Chi O, Delta Zeta, Alpha Phi, and Alpha Chi Omega were pretty accurate according to the different campuses I have visited. Those young ladies are awesome. The fact that many Tri-Delts consider themselves top-tier might explain some of the resentment they get from other sororities. Why is it that every other day we get some insecure big 6 girl coming in and posting a thread like this to reaffirm the outdated social hierarchy theyre so desperate to maintain. Kappa Delta (KD) is considered an up-and-coming sorority, one that has risen to the top-tier in terms of reputation in recent decades. is usually a top tier sorority and the girls in it are wonderful.. Every sorority has partiers, so nothing should make aphi stand out in that area. Almost impossible to get into unless you know a ton of girls in the chapter, are beautiful, and from an affluent neighborhood. Pi Beta Phi? They can be really snobby to girls on the first day. I was exposed to a bunch of them my sophomore year in college, and learned a bit through "osmosis" although I can completely understand not wanting to pledge! Tri-Delts tend to be heavily invested in philanthropy and prefer to be labeled "classy" over "fun to party with," although they do not want to be considered boring. They're smart in that way. They use their elevated social status to close the court doors. I can agree it has to be an objective sort, of survey that produces such varied results, but as there many kinds of, people, there must be many kinds of "groups" to belong to. A "top" tier sorority can basically pick just who they want among pledges, while a "low" tier sorority takes the leftovers. I actually think Livelonger did a good job of presenting each sorority with both positive and negative points.
